Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BudgetFriend ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

BudgetFriend is a web application that helps users plan paycheck allocations and sync them to their YNAB (You Need A Budget) accounts. The Service requires a YNAB account to function.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

4. YNAB Integration

The Service integrates with YNAB through their official API. By connecting your YNAB account:

  • You authorize us to access your YNAB budget data as described in our Privacy Policy
  • You acknowledge that YNAB is a third-party service with its own terms and conditions
  • You understand that changes synced to YNAB are your responsibility
  • You can disconnect your YNAB account at any time through the Settings page

5. Subscription and Payments

BudgetFriend offers free and paid subscription tiers:

  • Free Tier: Limited features as described on our pricing page
  • Paid Tiers: Additional features with monthly subscription fees

For paid subscriptions:

  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
  • You can cancel at any time through the Settings page
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Use automated means to access the Service without permission
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content, is owned by BudgetFriend and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

YNAB and You Need A Budget are trademarks of YNAB LLC. BudgetFriend is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YNAB LLC.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

We are not responsible for:

  • Any errors or inaccuracies in budget calculations
  • Changes made to your YNAB budget through the Service
  • Data loss or corruption
  • Third-party service outages (including YNAB or Stripe)

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUDGETFRIEND SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES.

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BudgetFriend from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may also delete your account at any time.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease, and we may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
